Homework
Homework will be sent home from time to time in kindergarten. We will send phonics sheets, handwriting sheets, and letter books at times. Please complete the homework with your child and return it the next day. When the paper letter books are sent home, please have your child read the book to you three times, you sign and return the book and return to school. We keep those books here for students to continuously practice reading skills. As students are reading, please encourage him/her to point to the words as they read. Math homework is optional and a packet will be sent home on Mondays and asked to be returned on Friday. Leveled books will be sent home every Monday and Tuesday. (later in the year) Please have your child read the book to you the day it goes home, check off the boxes on the paper, and return the very next day. When reading with your child, if he/she comes to a word they do not know, please tell your child the word to help them move on. We want to make reading positive at this age and exciting, not frustrating. Encourage your child to sound out words he/she is able but the difficult ones, please help them with so they do not get frustrated quickly. Please also make sure your child is pointing to the words as he/she reads to you. This is a very exciting time for Kindergarten children because the pieces of what we learn will come together! Thank you for your support!
